You could almost feel the anticipation and excitement in the air as the individuals in Chesed 24/7’s Day Habilitation program waited for their special visitor. When the celebrity guest finally arrived, with his colorful hat perched on his head true to his signature style, the excitement erupted and the crowd broke into cheers and applause. One of our young men led the loud introduction, “Presenting, Lipaaaaaaaaaaaa Schmeltzeeeeeeeeeeer!!!”
Lipa Schmeltzer, known as a superstar in the Jewish world, came to visit Chesed 24/7’s Day Hab program where he performed for our participants and radiated his usual warmth. Some of our audience members were literally star-struck as Lipa started singing through a series of his greatest hits, all songs that our individuals fully know by heart. Once the musicians started playing some upbeat music, Lipa had everyone dancing, their hearts soaring to the ceiling. The room was filled with simcha as Lipa entertained and bounced around, giving individual audience member their own shining moment, dancing with each of them and allowing them to feel on top of the world.
One of Chesed 24/7’s goals is to give the young men and women in our Day Hab program a solid, growth-oriented schedule and also unforgettable opportunities like this one, that will give them a special boost. It is impossible to fully describe what Lipa’s visit did for the men and women who attend our Day Hab program. Lipa’s private concert made such an impact, they do not stop talking about “when Lipa came.” Chesed 24/7 is grateful to Lipa for taking the time out of his extremely busy schedule to bring joy to these special young men and women and give them not only entertainment, but also the warmth and Ahavas Yisrael he is known for.
