Heartfelt Gratitude for Chesed 24/7 Support and Compassion

Dear Chesed 24/7 Team,

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for all that you have done for my family and me over these past few weeks at Columbia Presbyterian. As I spent long days and nights at the hospital, sitting by my mother’s side, your presence became a source of warmth, comfort, and kindness that carried us through.

From the kosher meals to the countless thoughtful touches, you provided us with everything we needed and more. Your attention to every detail and your dedication to supporting us allowed me to focus on caring for my mother, knowing that we were being looked after with genuine compassion.

Your kindness was felt most profoundly during the High Holidays. Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot are times that traditionally bring families together at home, sharing meals and celebrating together. When we couldn’t be home, your organization brought the feeling of home to us. The holiday meals—so lovingly prepared by young mothers who gave their time and hearts—were nothing short of a blessing.

Each dish was more than just a meal; it was a taste of tradition, a reminder of home, and a comfort that words cannot fully express. We could feel the care in each detail, from the flavors to the presentation. It was as if every mother who prepared these meals had placed a bit of her heart into each bite. The flavors were rich, the quality remarkable, and each meal truly felt like a home-cooked embrace. I might even have gained a little weight from all that delicious food—though it’s hard to regret a single bite! Knowing these young mothers took the time to make these dishes during their own busy holiday seasons made it even more meaningful. You nourished us in both body and spirit, bringing joy and connection into days that could have otherwise felt empty.

A special thank you to Mr. Greenberg, the owner of this wonderful organization, whose visit one evening left an impact I will always remember. Though our conversation was brief, his compassion and understanding brought a sense of calm and reassurance that meant so much to me. It was clear that Chesed 24/7’s mission is rooted in genuine love and care.

To every mother who took the time to cook, every volunteer who organized, and everyone who gave of themselves to make these meals special—thank you. Your kindness brought us a sense of community and belonging that we will always cherish.

May each of you be blessed for the warmth and compassion you share, especially during times when others need it most.

With all my gratitude,
Mrs Hershkowitz and Bluma Groos
